The Demise of the Caledon On Sea Botanical House

Ah, the price of progress!

In order to make way for an extension of the rail line, Mr. Podruly Peccable's Botanical House, a longtime fixture in Caledon On Sea, was demolished on Saturday - following, naturally, a dance.

Above, the Botanical House in all its glory, with one of Duke Middlesea's craft docked.

The dance floor.

As the building comes down, most of the revelers watch from outside - some romantic but foolhardy souls continue to dance as the walls tumble around them. Love in the ruins indeed!

I watched the process in the Steamray from a safe distance - Middlesea!

And the Botanical House is no longer.

Naturally, like all good Caledonian parties, this one ended in a sim crash, as the physical bouncing of the prims overwhelmed the server and sent all comers into limbo. Success!

It is a great shame to see this building go. On the other hand, I will be very pleased if we are to see something like Mr Thorne's old Penzance railway station erected in its place. If only we could have had both.

I am sad I missed the demolition... I was out of town engaged with a family visit. The Botanical House will be sorely missed.

What a wonderful end to a fine old building :)

It was indeed a demolition to remember! (Though, unlike a certain Steelhead laboratory, no pieces were found embedded in other structures, as far as I know. :) )

The Botanical House was a Caledon landmark, and will certainly be missed. It will be interesting to see what Mr. Thorne does with the property.

Oh that's sad. The Botanical House was the first place I ever stumbled upon in Caledon.
