The Vernian Sea

I had heard reports of strange structures in the Vernian Sea off of New Babbage, and traveled to the docks to see for myself.

Doctor Obolensky's Doomsday Clock loomed over me. Hey, hadn't I seen that before?

It appeared the age of the ironclad had arrived.

The fiendish Doctor had built an observatory in the Vernian Sea, the structure so large as to cause localized eddies around its base. I maneuvered my boat in with some care.

"Dr. G. Obolensky - Infernal Devices and General Villainy." Yup, I've come to the right place. "Yoo-hoo! Anyone home?"

From the observatory, one can see distant galaxies. Not very well, however. No, it was a lot easier to see, say, what one's neighbors are up to.

"What the..." Words failed me. The size of that construct was amazing. Putting aside my better judgment, I aimed my boat at the mechanical man.

Like the observatory, this structure was so large that it disturbed the sea around it.

What could be its purpose? I mused. Is someone taking on the Doctor at his own game in New Babbage?

Or does the mechanical man look across the waters to more distant shores?

Thank you for the kind words, Red!

(And I loved the "Bribes" slot. It's hard to see on the picture, but it's there!)
